I recently had the absolute pleasure of photographing the Stavey family for a Mommy and Me portrait session at my Murrieta photography studio. Let me tell you, this session was pure magic! The laughter, the paint splatters, and the love they shared were everything I adore about family photography.
The Stavey Family’s Playful Spirit
When the Staveys arrived, I could tell right away that this was going to be a fun day. The sweet little one was buzzing with excitement, and Mom had the biggest smile on her face. It didn’t take long before the canvas and each other became the perfect targets for their creative energy. We started with some sweet, traditional family photos—cuddles, kisses, and all the warm fuzzies that make these moments so special. But then, the real fun began.

Hugs, laughter, and Paint Splatters
As soon as the paintbrushes came out, it was like a switch flipped. The Stavey family dove right in, splattering paint on the canvas, each other, and even a bit on me (it’s all part of the fun, right?). Mom didn’t hesitate to join in, and soon they were all covered in a rainbow of colors. We captured some absolutely adorable shots—Mom and kids sharing hugs while still holding their paintbrushes, and my favorite, the chase around the canvas with giggles echoing through the studio.
The best part? The Staveys were fully in the moment, creating memories that they’ll look back on with big smiles. They ended up choosing a stunning framed collection of these playful images for their home, along with digital files to share with family and friends. It’s sessions like these that remind me why I love being a family photographer.
